No, you cannot update a project after an order has been placed. When an order is created in your Shopify account for a Lulu xPress product, each order is assigned a "Printable ID" which ties the files that are active at the time the order is made to the order. Even if the project files are updated before the order is paid for, the previous files will be used. If you need to update your files, we recommend cancelling the order, if possible, then updating your project files. Once the project has been updated, you can then create a new order or duplicate the existing order within Shopify.
